I just started school again about two and a half ago, annndd it's already starting to kill me. But the one good thing about school starting up again means that... FALL IS COMING. FALL. IS. COMING. (do I sound excited enough?) Although I love summer, I'm ready to curl up in sweaters while picking apples! I thought I would make a post on possible back to school and fall essentials. Here we go:
Barettes:
If you're going for more of a vintage vibe, Barettes are an easy, cute way to pin back you hair while you're studying or doing those fall activites. You can go for the Hollywood waves and pin back your hair with barrettes for more formal events, do the standard side clip (like the picture of Gwyneth Paltrow in The Royal Tenenbaums-if you have not seen this movie yet I am telling you run to your nearest library and watch it. NOW.) or if you can get one big enough it can even be a better alternative to hair bands. They can provide a pop of color when wearing darker colors this fall. Berets can provide multiple looks to your outfit whether its the parisenne chic, mod, or a vintage look. The best part is they can really help you out on those school days where you didn't have enough time to shower the night before.They are able to be worked into all seasonal wear and they come in multiple colors on Amazon (because of course Amazon has everything!) These berets give a different alternative to the slouchy hipster hats that a lot of people have been wearing for the past year or so. Since it's more of a structured hat feel free to wear it with more baggy like clothes (skirts, dress) or if you want a more streamlined look try it with bottoms that emphasize the waist line and a more form fitting, boxy shirt.
Since school is starting up, a good lazy shirt I like to to wear after a long night of homework is a mens corduroy shirt. A lot of Corduroy shirts come in neutral and darker colors. This matches the colder seasons better. You can wear it as you would with a men's shirt or maybe like a jean jacket and layer it on top of your outfit. I got mine at goodwill (which is weirdly similar to Amazon and seems to always have a lot of stuff...THATS CHEAP!) The one on the bottom is from Urban Outfitters Men Section.
A small bottle of you favorite fall scent:
It's nice to carry this around your backpack during those days where your gym teacher decided to be mean and forced you to actually work out . You can spray it on after being all sweaty or even in the bathroom if you feel like your scent is fading. Fall scents tend to smell more "warm" or "spicy" smelling while summer scents tend to smell more citrus-y or happy.
A good pair of Ankle boots:
I lurrvve ankle boots. and the best part is they've been starting to pop up in a lot more stores recently I feel like they'd be a lot more easier to wear compared to the taller boots (such as the equastrian boot) that requires the battle of attempting to shove your pants into them and zip up the boot all while trying to catch the bus that you're probably late to also (don't worry I've been that awkward kid with the backpack doing the backpack waddle run after the bus). With the ankle boot not only is it easier to wear, it also matches a lot more outfits because of its height. You no longer have to worry if it looks weird or slutty if you wear boots up to your knees with a certain skirt because ankle boots are like the taller converses. They can have heels or no heel at all and be the shoe you wear everyday if you want. also you can get more sneaker type ankle booties if your style is more casual, jock, or just like being comfortable.
